Don't Make These Job Interview Mistakes

For many , the interview is the single most nerve-wrangling part of the job search process. Many individuals don't like being put on the spot and others despise going into the unknown. There's also a lot to lose when you go to a job interview, as the outcome will affect you for many years to come. Any number of things can go bad, and a major part of being successful is avoiding simple mistakes. The following is a list some of the most typical mistakes during an Interview.

1. Failing to research the firm: An interviewer will expect applicants to spend a fair amount of time researching and reading about their corporation. Do your prep before the interview; really know what the company does and who their competitors are. Learn who the major figures in the company are and what the companies' mission is. If you have not taken the time to check the employer website and understand what they are recruiting for, then you are minimizing your odds of continuing successfully through the interview process.

2. Unclear on what you're interviewing for: Be familiar with the job description so you can draw on your experiences, skills, strengths and abilities. This should meet with the company requirements. Highlight how you're suited to that actual job. They need to be certain that you are the ideal candidate

3. Not marketing yourself correctly: Define yourself. What makes you different from other applicants? Know your major strengths and accomplishments as they relate to the job you are signing up for and the company. Go thru practice interview questions and read model answers so you understand how to present yourself and can come up with at least four or five personal marketable factors. Investment banking interviews are known to be among the toughest so search for investment bank interview questions and get acquainted with ideal responses - practicing the hardest questions out there will help you sail thru your presumably less gruelling interview.

4. Not asking meaningful questions: Have at least 3-4 clever things to ask the recruiter. It's okay (it really leaves a good impression with the recruiter) to have them written down ahead and to reference them at the correct time. Interviews are an exchange of information, and not coming in with questions shows that you didn't make preparations for the whole interview.

5. Under-dressing for the interview: Professional attire and awareness of detail still count. Remember that everything - your appearance, your tone of voice, your conduct -contributes to the impression (positive or negative) that you make. Be presentable - wear a pressed suit and shirt and polished shoes.
