You might have used a not for profit organization when you were in need. It is said that people are always one step closer to needing help themselves. There is no shame in this. We however do feel that it is important you know about where the money comes from. Here is the primary non profit funding sources.People know what these missions are. You will find that donations from donors such as families who are saying thank you have helped them to keep going. If it were not for these, many would have to close their doors. Even a one time donation does a world of good.
Something we have found when working for one of these is that their biggest source of revenue comes from grants. They have to apply to them and you have to word the application just right. However, you can get a large amount if they think you have a worthy cause.
Partnerships take place and help all the time. Some partner with them because they admire what they are doing. The program might be unique and a dire need in the community. There are many reasons why a business might give a non profit the money and the means to continue on.
Last of all, fundraising is sometimes done. They might host an event and people donate that way. They might host a walkathon. Others might sell things. There are a number of things they might do, but this is a way they take in some cash to help out.
As you can see, many are well off because others pitch in to help. If it were not for the government with grants and tax write offs they would be sunk. This is how they make it so they can keep doing what it is they are doing.
